Master Breeder Program

(Revised May 15, 2023)

Purpose:

 The main objective of the Master Breeder Program is to encourage excellence in breeding, promoting, showing and improvement of the Portuguese Tumbler Pigeon. Recipients of the estimable Master Breeder award of the Portuguese Tumbler Club of America must meet specific qualifications.

Master Breeder Director: (MBD)

The club President shall appoint the MBD. It is recommended the MBD serve for a period of not less than five years to maintain continuity in the program. The MBD will have the overall responsibility for the program and will report directly to the President of the PTCA. It will be the duty of the MBD to familiarize themselves with the rules of the program so that each show report submitted will be checked for compliance.  The MBD will consult with the person in charge of each show when reports are not in compliance.

Record Maintenance:

The MBD will record points as show reports are submitted and keep a permanent accumulated total. The MBD will keep show reports for the current year and the most recent year recorded. It will not be the responsibility of the MBD to solicit show reports. Accrued points will be published in the newsletter and will be presumed accurate unless protested to the MBD. Only the current year or the most recent year points may be challenged.

Official Program Rules:

·        All points are forfeited when club membership expires for more than one year.

·        Only officially approved shows will qualify for MB points. The region director will compile a list of approved shows for the district including the District Meet and submit them to the club President, club secretary and the newsletter editor. Approved shows must be posted by the May newsletter. No other shows will be approved after that date.

·         The annual National Meet will be held with the NPA Grand National Show. There will be 3 district shows. Western district, Central district and Eastern district. It is recommended that the district show will rotate through the district when practical.

·        The exhibitor does not have to be present to have points awarded.

·        All birds exhibited in competition must be bred and owned by the exhibitor.

·        Any exhibitor who commits any type of fraud, not limited to falsifying records or violating program rules will be permanently expelled from the program.

·        Only birds judged will be included in the final show count. Birds entered but, not judged will not be counted.

·        The member in charge of each show, as part of their duties, will forward a copy of the official show results to the MBD. Judging sheets will be included with the show report. This report must be sent to the MBD within 45 days of the show date to be considered for Master Breeder Points. Reports not submitted timely will not be recorded.

·        The executive board will be the final arbiters of any disputes or interpretation of the official rules. The executive board to include the President, Vice President, 3 district directors, secretary and the immediate past President.

·        The award will be earned after 5 years of continuous membership.

·        500 points are required to earn the Master Breeder Award. Points will then continue to accumulate at additional levels. Silver award 1000 points, Gold award 1,500 points and Platinum award 2,000 points.

·        Champion of Show or Reserve Champion of show must be earned at One Grand National and one District show or two district shows to qualify for the award. One of these must be at a show outside of the recipient’s home district.

 

 

Show Points Calculation:

·        25-49 Birds

3 Exhibitors or more      Any Bird Rating 95 points or more = 3 points

Champion = 20 points

Reserve = 10 points

2nd Reserve = 5 points

 

·        50-74 Birds

5 Exhibitors or more      Any Bird Rating 95 points or more = 3 points

Champion = 30 points

Reserve = 20 points

2nd Reserve = 10 points

3rd Reserve = 5 points

 

·        75 Birds or more

7 Exhibitors or more      Any Bird Rating 95 points or more = 3 points

Champion = 40 Points

Reserve = 30 points

2nd Reserve = 20 points

3rd Reserve = 10 points

4th Reserve = 5 points

Additional Points:

·        When there are 9 Exhibitors or more and 100 Birds or more at National and District Shows

Additional points will be allocated.

Champion = 50 points    Any Bird Rating 95 points or more = 5 Points

Reserve = 40 points

2nd Reserve = 30 points

3rd Reserve = 20 points

4th Reserve = 10 points

5th Reserve = 5 points

 

This applies only to District and National Shows. When there are not 9 exhibitors and 100 birds regular show point calculations apply.

 

·        Judging – Maximum Earned per member 50 points

25-49 Bird Show = 10 points

50-74 Bird Show = 20 points

75 Birds or more – 30 points

 

Rare Breed Shows:  Exhibitor must submit proof of points earned at a sponsored Rare Breed Club event when there are not enough birds to qualify for a PTCA approved show.

·        50-99 Birds

Champion Rare = 10 points   Any Bird Rating 95 points or more = 3 points

Reserve Rare = 5 points

 

 

·        100-199 Birds

Champion Rare = 15 points   Any Bird Rating 95 points or more = 3 points

Reserve Rare = 10 points

 

·        200-200 Birds

Champion Rare = 20 points   Any Bird Rating 95 points or more = 3 points

Reserve Rare = 15 points

 

·        300 Birds or More

Champion Rare = 25 points   Any Bird Rating 95 points or more = 3 points

Reserve Rare = 20 points
